Prices appear only after scripts run

The page shows prices in a browser, but the HTML a crawler gets contains none. AI crawlers do not run scripts, so assistants cannot quote what it costs and may guess or name a rival.

js_only_prices · Content and readability · Warning

What triggers it

The browser view of a page shows at least one price after scripts run, and the HTML a crawler gets has none.

What to change

Put the prices in the server-sent HTML (and Offer markup), and let scripts only update them.

Example

HTML to put in the page:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Product","name":"Blue trail running shoes","offers":{"@type":"Offer","price":"89.00","priceCurrency":"EUR"}}
</script>
<p class="price">€89.00</p>

How to confirm the fix

  1. View Source and search for the price: it is in the HTML, not only on screen
  2. Run a new crawl

How common it is

We have not measured how common this is on a sample of sites. Counts appear here when a study covers it.
