Can Bing index your pages?
Type your domain. We read robots.txt and your sitemap, then check up to 10 URLs (your home page and an even spread of the sitemap): the answer code, whether robots.txt lets Bingbot in, noindex in the header or the page, and the canonical. You get one line per URL and the next step. Bing shows nobody's index status to an outsider, so we never say a page is in Bing: only Bing Webmaster Tools shows that, and the page tells you how to open it.
What this checks
- robots.txt: whether it stops Bingbot from fetching each sampled URL, read under RFC 9309.
- The answer: the page must answer 200 on its own address. A redirect, an error or a refusal to our request is listed as such.
- Noindex: the X-Robots-Tag header and the robots, bingbot and msnbot meta tags.
- Canonical: a page whose canonical points at another address asks Bing to index that address instead.
- Your sitemap: whether it loads, how many URLs it lists and whether robots.txt names it.
- Bing Webmaster Tools: whether the verification marker (a msvalidate.01 meta tag or a BingSiteAuth.xml file) is on your site. A site can also be verified by a DNS record, which we cannot see.
What this cannot show
Whether Bing has indexed a page, how often it crawls it or whether it ranks. Only Bing Webmaster Tools (URL Inspection and Search Performance) shows that, and only to the site's owner.

Questions
Is my site in Bing?
Only Bing can tell you, and only inside Bing Webmaster Tools, where URL Inspection shows the status of each address you own. From outside, what can be read is whether anything stops Bing from indexing a page: this tool reads that.
Why does Bing matter for ChatGPT?
ChatGPT search draws largely on Bing's results, and Copilot is Bing's own assistant, so a page Bing has not found is much harder for them to answer from.
How do I tell Bing about new pages?
Add the site in Bing Webmaster Tools, submit the sitemap, and send each new or changed address through IndexNow, a one-request protocol that Bing, Yandex and others accept.
Does a clean result get me indexed?
No. It removes the usual reasons a page is skipped: a robots.txt rule, a noindex tag, a redirect or a canonical pointing elsewhere. Bing still decides what to index from the content and from the links to it.
What does the tool send to my site?
One request for robots.txt, the sitemap, BingSiteAuth.xml and up to 10 pages, from CitedBy's server as CitedBot/1.0. It does not use Bingbot's name, so a site that treats Bingbot differently, for example by verifying its IP address, can answer the real crawler differently.
