Is GPTBot blocked on your site?
Type your domain. We read robots.txt and then request your home page once with each crawler's own user-agent string, so you see both the rule and what your server really does.
What this checks
- robots.txt: which of the 8 crawlers your file allows, using the standard (RFC 9309) rules: the most specific group wins, the longest matching path wins.
- A live request: one GET of your home page per crawler string, from our address. A firewall or bot filter that answers 403, 429 or a challenge page shows up here even when robots.txt says yes.
- Google-Extended is a robots.txt switch only (no crawler fetches pages under that name), so it is read from robots.txt alone.
Who is who
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude answer buyers' questions with different crawlers. Search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot, Googlebot) decide whether you can be cited. ChatGPT-User fetches a page when a person asks about it. Training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended) feed models, and blocking them is a choice that does not remove you from answers.
A note for EU sites
In the EU, a machine-readable reservation such as a robots.txt rule is how a rightsholder opts out of commercial text-and-data mining (Article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790). Blocking a training crawler is therefore a legitimate, documented choice. This is information, not legal advice.
