Google: how many of our pages it has indexed
We read Search Console's URL inspection data for 400 of the 1,015 pages in our sitemap, a sample drawn evenly across sections. The share is an estimate: with 400 pages sampled it is within about five points.
| Pages | Inspected | Indexed | Share | Crawled, not indexed | Unknown to Google |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Check library (/checks, five languages) | 215 | 0 | 0.0% | 0 | 215 |
| All other pages | 185 | 148 | 80.0% | 6 | 31 |
| Sample total | 400 | 148 | 37.0% | 6 | 246 |
Two days earlier, on 24 October 2026, a sample of 122 pages (before the check library existed) had 107 indexed (87.7%), 9 crawled and not indexed, and 6 unknown to Google. No sampled page had a noindex, a robots block or a fetch error, and Google never chose another page as the canonical of one of ours.
Bing: crawled and indexed
From 19 October 2026 to 25 October 2026, Bing Webmaster Tools shows Bing crawled 23 pages of citedby.eu, with 0 in its index and 0 crawl errors on the last day. We submitted 300 URLs by hand from 24 October 2026; Bingbot had fetched 0 of those by the time we counted. AI crawlers and search bots: what they fetched
Counted in the production access log for 17 October 2026 to 23 October 2026: requests answered 200 or 304, by user agent. The agent name is not checked against the bots' published address lists, so treat each row as a reading, not a proof.

AI crawlers are not blocked
On 26 October 2026, our robots.txt allows every crawler and blocks no AI bot: it only disallows tracking parameters and account paths. Both sitemaps are listed in it. A job reads the sitemap every three hours and sends each new or changed URL to IndexNow, half of them after a deliberate 48-hour delay that we use to time how fast Bing and OpenAI's crawler react.
Method and limits
- Google: "indexed" means the inspection state starts with "Submitted and indexed" or "Indexed, not submitted in sitemap". A page unknown to Google is not a fault until it has had time to be crawled.
- Bing: the index count is the one Bing Webmaster Tools reports; it can lag the live index.
- Not measured: whether ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude shows citedby.eu in an answer. A fetch by their bots is not a citation. We measure citations in the AI citation map.
- Refresh: the numbers are read again with the tools named in the JSON; the date at the top is the day they were read.
