Missing title

The title is the first thing an assistant reads to decide what the page is.

title_missing · Titles, headings and schema · Error

What triggers it

A page has no title element, or an empty one.

What to change

Add a unique <title> that says what the page is.

Example

HTML to put in the page:

<title>Blue trail running shoes | Example Shop</title>

How to confirm the fix

  1. View Source: there is one <title> in <head>, and it is not empty
  2. Open the page in a browser: the tab shows that title

How common it is

We have not measured how common this is on a sample of sites. Counts appear here when a study covers it.
