Article has no named author

The article markup names no author, or names the organization or an "editorial team". Assistants and search engines weigh who wrote a page, most of all on health, money, legal and exam advice, and an unsigned page has no person to trust or cite.

What triggers it

A page with Article markup names no author, names only your organization with no link, or names a team such as "the editorial team".

What to change

Name the person who wrote or reviewed it: add a byline and an author of type Person (name, and a profile or sameAs link) to the Article JSON-LD.

Example

HTML to put in the page:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Article","headline":"How to choose trail shoes","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Jane Doe","sameAs":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/janedoe"}}
</script>

How to confirm the fix

  1. View Source and search for "author": the Article JSON-LD names a Person with a name
  2. Press 'Re-check 1 page'
